A senor Iranian military commander has warned that no missile shield can help Israel dodge Iran's barrage of missiles in case of any military attack from Tel Aviv.
"Iranian missiles have the capacity to target Israeli soil if the Zionist regime commits such stupidity including its nuclear sites," the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps (IRGC) Commander General Mohammad Ali Jafari said.
"We are not responsible for the likely stupidity of the Zionist enemy," he added.
Jafari's remarks come while Israel has repeatedly threatened to put an end to Iran's nuclear program, which it describes as a 'threat' to its existence, by resorting to military action.
Israel's staunch ally, which has plans to diplomatically engage Iran over the issue, has, up to now, refused to give Israel the green light for a military attack on Iran.
The US and Israel, the possessor of the sole nuclear arsenal in the Middle East, accuse Iran of secretly seeking nuclear weapons, with which to attack Israel. Tehran has asserted that its uranium enrichment is intended solely for the generation of electricity, and has opened its nuclear facilities to inspectors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Jafari went on to say that all Israeli cities are within the range of Iranian ballistic missiles.
"Maybe Israel and other enemies could counter the Iranian missiles on a limited scale with the use of missile shields but, when we fire a large number of rockets toward them they will not have any response," he said in a reference to the recent comments of the US Secretary of State.
On Wednesday, Hillary Clinton warned that the US would consider establishing a "defense umbrella" in cooperation with its allies in the region should Iran refuse to abandon its nuclear activities.
Jaffari also said the era of military threats has ended, noting such intimidation would only boost solidarity among the Iranian nation.
